03 · How we work
01 · CREATION AND ISSUE, STORED APARTA document exists from the moment it is created but counts only from the moment it is issued, and the record stores the two moments separately.
02 · A KNOWN OFFLINE WINDOWBefore designing offline sync, we find out how long a device can really be away. On the passport system agents brought their phones back to the office every day, so sync never had to cover more than one day.

Questions about this service
Applications and biometrics wait in secure storage on the phone and upload once it has a connection again.
A phone that has been offline can’t know what other phones submitted in the meantime. Only the server, which every device eventually syncs with, can tell whether an application already exists.
It shows what was issued. An audit also asks which version of the template was used and who changed that template, so templates need a version history of their own. The customs invoicing system never had one.
Yes. Passport fees went through the national gateway, and applicants abroad paid with PayPal.
