How we do it
Each job to its own database: InfluxDB for time-series ingest, MySQL for live reads, Redshift for the warehouse — one database cannot do all three.
We precompute: the annual report reads 365 daily summaries per item instead of hundreds of millions of raw rows.
When the schema and queries cannot be touched, we speed up underneath — a 15-minute report cut to 0.2 seconds across 200M+ items.
